Do you need an FBI Apostille for your criminal background check?
If you plan to live, work, or travel to another country, you maybe asked to provide an FBI background check authenticated by the US Department of State in Washington DC (Apostille).
In order to help you obtain an FBI Apostille, you’ll need to send us a letter signed by an official at the Criminal Justice Information Services Division (CJIS). You can request this letter at the time you submit your fingerprints. If you didn’t request this letter, please visit the FBI website or call 304-625-2000 for information. It’s important to state that you’ll be obtaining an Apostille and the letter is necessary in order for the United States Department of State to authenticate the letter for use in a country who is a member of the Hague Apostille Convention.
The process of obtaining the results of your FBI criminal background check can take a few days if you use an FBI Approved Channeler. Once the letter has been received by our office, it will take an additional 5-7 business days for the document to be authenticated and returned back to you by next business morning. We do provide international shipping for an additional fee.
It’s important that you mail us the letter after you’ve received it from the FBI. If you’re not in the country, you can obtain assistants form the local US Embassy office. You’ll need to include our order form in order to avoid any delays. Thank you.
