The California Department of Justice (DOJ) provides an automated service for criminal history background checks that may be required as a condition of employment, licensing, certification, foreign adoptions or VISA/Immigration clearances.
It’s important to request a letter signed by a Criminal Identification Specialist or another individual at the Department of Justice. The Department of Justice may not automatically send you this letter with your results so it’s important to request one to be included with your results. Without this written and signed letter by a Specialist at the DOJ, you will not be eligible for a California Apostille.
You have the option to request your own Criminal Record or if your working with an agency, the agency will give you instructions on how to apply for your California DOJ criminal history background check.
