http://www.apostille.la/uae-united-arab-emirates-document-attestation-certification/

In order to process documents for this country, your documents require State, U.S. Department of State, and the UAE Embassy legalization.   Documents issued by the U.S. Federal Government do not require State certification.

The country of the United Arab Emirates has one Embassy office in Washington, D.C. and one Consulate office in Los Angeles, CA.  All documents received for this country will be legalized through the UAE Embassy in Washington, D.C.

For example, if you need your California marriage certificate to be certified and legalized for the UAE Embassy, your document will require California State certification, US Department of State certification, and UAE Embassy legalization.  These three steps are required in order for the Government of the UAE to accept your documents.

The most common documents we certify and legalize for United Arab Emirates are:

Diplomas
Transcripts
Commercial Invoices
Certificate of Origin
Power of Attorney
Authorization of Agent
Marriage License

and more!

Weekly Apostille Talk – FBI Background Check CRC

Apostille Frequently Asked QuestionsThe question for this week, “How do I obtain an FBI background check and how can I get an apostille attached to it.”

The very first step is to contact an FBI channeler who will provide you step-by-step instructions.  A list of FBI channelers can be found on our FBI apostille website.

You can request your FBI background check to either be emailed to you (digital copy) or mailed to your home (hard copy).  If you are outside the country, we recommend the digital copy.  If you decide to forward a copy of your digital background check, be sure to also include the security code.

We have created a short video to help explain how to obtain an FBI Criminal background check from an FBI Channeler and the steps you will need to take in order to mail-in your background check to our Washington, D.C. office for processing.

Some countries may request a State background check in addition to an FBI background check.  For example, the country of Spain & Italy require both a California State background check and an FBI background check.

You can contact the consulate or the party requesting your documents for specific instructions.  Please note than an FBI background check is only valid for 90 days.  The US Department of State will not apostille FBI background checks older than 90 days.  Also, some countries will place a time-limit on how old your background check can be.  This is especially important for State background checks who typically don’t set time-limits on their documents.

IRS Form 6166 Apostille

IRS Form 6166 ApostilleDo you need an apostille on an IRS Form 6166?

Are you planning to work or conduct business outside the United States and are trying to avoid double-taxation?  IRS Form 6166 is a letter printed on U.S. Department of Treasury stationary that certifies that a person or company is a United States resident for purposes of income tax laws of the United States.

This form is used to claim income tax treaty benefits and certain other tax benefits in foreign countries.  Form 6166 is also used to claim exemption from a VAT (Value Added Tax) imposed by a foreign country.

If you are planning to teach in a country who has a tax treaty with the United States, you can possibly avoid being taxed twice.  We recommend that you contact the IRS to know if the country has a tax treaty with the United States.

Many business set up representation in foreign countries in order to conduct business in that country.  If the country has a tax treaty with the United States, the individual or company must provide proof to the foreign government in order to qualify for the reduced tax rate.  Form 6166 is also used to claim exemption from a VAT (Value Added Tax) imposed by a foreign country.

Tax treaties may allow residents of foreign countries to be taxed at a reduced rate.  This helps prevent double taxation or a reduction in taxes owed.

In order to obtain an apostille on Form 6166, you must first obtain this document by completing form 8802.  It is estimated that you will receive this form in a few weeks from the IRS.  Once you have received the form printed on the Department of Treasury stationary, you can then mail-in this letter to our Washington, D.C. office for processing through the U.S. Department of State.  Our processing time is four business days and we do provide FedEx 1-2 day return service.

We recommend that you contact a professional who can answer your questions regarding double taxation and Form 6166.
