Apostille a Death Certificate

We provide fast same-day California Apostille Services for a Death Certificate.  A death certificate issued from any of the 58 California Counties must be certified by the County Clerk.  If the document is certified by the Health Services Department and signed by a medical doctor, the document requires further authentication by the County Clerk.

We can authenticate documents through all 58 California Counties.  If the certificate requires County authentication, we will contact you to review the documents.  There is an additional fee and processing time to authenticate documents issued by the Health Services Department.

A death certificate is typically requested by the other country when there are assets in the name of the deceased.  For example, if the deceased person owned a property and/or bank accounts in another country, the wife or immediate family member (son, daughter, mother, father, etc…) will request the death certificate to be authenticated with an apostille so the official in the other country will accept the document as valid.  We always recommend that you consult with an attorney in the other country in order to avoid any delays and/or additional costs.

You do not need to be in California or the United States to have the document authenticated by the California Secretary of State.  If you don’t have a certified death certificate, you can order one online or have an immediate family member obtain one through the County Clerk.

Nonetheless, all documents we receive are verified prior to being hand-delivered to the Secretary of State’s office. If we encounter any problems, we will contact you ASAP and provide you step-by-step directions on how to fix the problem.
