Notary and Apostille

Does your documents require notarization prior to an Apostille?

Certain documents require notarization prior to obtaining a California Apostille.  These documents include: Copy of Driver License, Copy of Passport, Affidavit, Power of Attorney, School Transcripts, School Diploma, Police or Sheriff Background Check, and Agreements/Contracts.

You will need to find a local notary to notarize the signature of the person signing the documents.   If you’re located in Los Angeles, visit our Los Angeles Notary Service website to schedule a traveling notary to your location.  Your documents will require either a California Acknowledgment, Jurat, or a California Copy Certification by Document Custodian.  The local notary will generally know which one of these documents is required for your specific documents but you can always call us for recommendations.

We have outlined below which documents require what kind of notarial act (Acknowledgment, Jurat, or California Copy Certification by Document Custodian)

Copy of Driver License – California Copy Certification by Document Custodian
Copy of Passport  – California Copy Certification by Document Custodian
School Transcripts  – California Copy Certification by Document Custodian
School Diploma  – California Copy Certification by Document Custodian
Power of Attorney – California Acknowledgment
Police or Sheriff Background Check – California Acknowledgment
Agreements/Contracts: California Acknowledgment
Affidavit –  Jurat

** Note, if you send us the original, we can copy certify it for you.  **
